ABOUT THE BLACK
COLLEGE TOUR

The Black College Tour (BCT) is one week in duration and we’ve worked hard to make it as cost effective as possible.

Students vary in age and range from middle school to college.

Students may participate in more than one tour as tours are offered annually in different states each year.

In 2017, the colleges included in the tour are Edward Waters College, Florida A&M College, Florida State University, Jackson State University, Tougaloo College, Mississippi Valley State College, University of Mississippi and Alcorn State University.

Six to seven Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) are visited during the week.  Students tour the schools and are provided catalogs as well as admission information and requirements.  Scholarships, financial aid, housing and ACT/SAT score information is provided.  Students are expected to keep a journal of the tour and to participate in group discussions each night regarding the schools visited that day.  Seniors are encouraged to bring resumes and transcripts if they are interested in being considered for admission at a particular school.

Over the past 27 years, 80% of students who were eligible for college have graduated.  Many students have achieved their Master of Art Degree or have been motivated and inspired to choose a professional career path.
